After being up by 14 points at the half, the Kent State Golden Flashes were felled in the MAC tournament semi-finals by Zippy the Kangaroo and those other Akron people. Oh, well. KSU is a young team and will be stronger next year. During the course of the game, I remembered that one of my life's many regrets (along with never being a drum major and not moving to New York City after college graduation) was not being a mascot. My natural goofiness masked under ridiculous costume! Gold! There's always next life, I suppose. No, [info]hochopepa, I will not go to furry conventions with you, DON'T ASK ME AGAIN.

My Dad had an infectious song stuck in his head ... turns out it was "My Doorbell" by the White Stripes. The folks still manage to surprise me.

Meanwhile, back at home, Mr. Whirled managed to beat the TicketMaster odds and score Police tickets for us and ELOP. Cannot wait. Well, that's not true ... Gordon and the boys have been on e of my favorite groups for 24 years and I've waited THIS long, so ... I wonder if I'll be able to get a Synchronicity tee shirt like the one I wanted back in 1984.

As for the Idol oustings, I was not at all shocked; surprised and mildly bummed; pretty shocked and fairly excited by it; totally bamboozled and really freaking stoked. I honestly thought Sundance was going to win as the Rupert Bonham of Idol. Now the guys need to just get better, and the girls need to show some VERVE, for God's sake. This ain't a scene, it's a god-damned ratings juggernaut ... take advantage of it!
