For the first time in perhaps five years, I'm listening to the Backstreet Boys' Millennium, truly a fabulous pop album, if over-produced twee tunes are your thing, and sometimes, for me, they just ARE. "I Want It That Way" oozes perfection and is still among my top-10 all-time favorite songs (Rolling Stone agrees with me, natch). "The One" is airy and boppily smooth. "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" is laughable in its earnestness, and WOW Howie D. cannot sing his way out of a gauze prison, but I still find myself grooving to it, and filling in the Nick-Carter-solo-at-the-2000-Grammys over the final chorus.

And why do I remember ALL of these words?

So after decades of skeeving people out and being vaguely inappropriate at all times, Lou Pearlman, of *NSYNC, BSB, O-Town managing fame, is being investigated by the FBI. It is the lead story on BusinessWeek this morning, folks. Surprisingly enough, he is not being targeted for (ALLEGED!) child pornography or similar charges. The accusations are purely financial in nature. Seems he tried to run with a Ponzi scheme that, surprise surprise, proved unsuccessful.

Attn: iTunes Radio. When did Blessid Union of Souls "She Likes Me for Me" begin qualifying as alternative rock? (Edit: Also alt-rock? Ashley Parker Angel, apparently. Hmmm. And we're back full circle to Lou Pearlman.)

Donal Logue's new show, The Knights of Prosperity, which was formerly titled Let's Rob Mick Jagger, has been pulled from the schedule. Pity - it was pretty funny, and Logue is great in most everything he does, including that half-a-second scene at the beginning of Jerry Maguire. Of course, I didn't exactly watch it regularly, either, so what are you gonna do. That new Putty/Oliver Hudson/Spade show, Rules of Engagement, is horrific, meanwhile, and ratings have soared through the roof. Figures.
